In September 1998 I was in Kuala Lumpur as member of a team of photographers and journalists from the
New Zealand Herald to cover the
XVI Commonwealth Games.
The images in the composite were shot with a Canon EOS DCS 3. The fastest way to get the photographs back to New Zealand was by using a digital camera, laptop computer and mobile phone - no film required! Not requiring film processing gave digital camera equipped photographers a 90 minute advantage for deadlines. Connect camera and mobile phome to computer import image then phone the office!
On the last day of the Commonwealth games whilst processing a photo for transmission, I was snapped with a Royal visitor, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by a photographer from the Daily Mail.
